According to urban dictionary, “out of the basement” is “used to describe something awesome or highly unusual. similar to off the chain or off the hook.” Because we and our ideas are out of the Cheek Hall basement (and we’re either awesome or highly unusual), we thought the name was a perfect name for this blog.
We are a team of mathematics teacher educators (pictured below from left to right, Gay, Joann, Kurt, Adam, and Patrick) who spend a lot of our time trying to be better teachers. Conversations within our team have been helpful, but we want to cast a wider net and expand these conversations. You can usually find us in the basement of Cheek Hall on the campus of Missouri State University.
